For Maiden Gully Fire Brigade protecting lives and property means more than just responding to incidents. We work closely with the CFA, FRV, DELWP and other Brigades to create safer communities by promoting better preparation and prevention.
Bushfires - Prepare, Act, Survive
As Victorians, we live in one of the most fire-prone areas in the world. It is essential for your safety to plan what you and your family will do if a bushfire threatens your home and how to best prepare it before the bushfire season. To find out ways to protect your home and family:

House Fires
Fires in homes occur all year round but they are more frequent in winter largely due to the use of heaters and the drying of clothes. However, last winter one third of Victorian house fires began in the kitchen. For your safety, you should have:
- A working smoke alarm.
- An escape plan for your family to get out of your home if there is a fire.
- A fire blanket and extinguisher in the kitchen.

Fire Equipment Maintenance
Our Brigade has professionally trained firefighters that service fire extinguishers and hose reels in schools, shops, factories, halls and other premises throughout the district. These brigade members bring to the task their experience at fire scenes and the backing of the CFA. By selecting a CFA Brigade for this work, you are supporting your local community because the funds go to your local brigade. At Maiden Gully, FEM is a key source of funds enabling us to buy or update firefighting equipment.
