The CFA has a mission to protect lives and property and a vision of working together with communities to keep Victorians safe from fire and other emergencies. To help achieve this, Maiden Gully Fire Brigade has set the following Objectives for 2011/12:
- Reduce the impact of fires and emergencies in Maiden Gully and elsewhere through an efficient and effective operational capability. This will be achieved by:
- Meeting CFA service delivery standards.
- Having the appropriate mix of trained personnel available at every incident.
- Maintaining the availability of drivers and enhancing their qualifications.
- Supporting other CFA Brigades and emergency agencies.
- Being able to respond appropriate appliances with planning in place for the introduction of future appliances.
- Build and strengthen Maiden Gully as a self-reliant, resilient community by applying the treatments in our Risk Assessment Plan that enhances the partnership between CFA and the Maiden Gully community. Support other members of the CFA in achieving the vision of Safer Communities with outcomes including:
- Producing two community newsletters.
- Upgrading our Brigade Website.
- Hosting at least two community education activities in Maiden Gully.
- Reviewing all Risk Treatments and Pre-plans.
- Supporting CFA Youth Programs.
- Provide cost effective and efficient delivery of the business services needed to support the Brigade’s operation while minimising energy and resource use. Specific emphasis will be given to:
- Applying through VESEP to replace our current Slip-On Unit with an Ultra Light Tanker.
- Conducting a range of income producing activities to support the VESEP Application and the ongoing development of the Brigade.
- Providing quality Fire Equipment Maintenance to clients in Maiden Gully and surrounding areas.
- Fostering the community partnership with Maiden Gully IGA and Maiden Gully UFS Pharmacy.
- Encouraging opportunities for Support Group activities.
- Improve the safety and capability of Maiden Gully Fire Brigade members by providing opportunities and training for them to achieve and maintain appropriate skill levels enabling them to maximise their potential. Members will be encouraged to participate in Group, District, Region and State training initiatives in order to achieve the following targets:
- All operational members having Wildfire & Low Structure Qualification.
- A minimum of 70% of all operational members having Wildfire & Structure Qualification.
- A minimum of 50% of all operational members having Structure & Wildfire Qualification.
- A minimum of 30% of all operational members, including all operational officers, having Crew Leader at Small Incidents Qualification.
- A minimum of 90% of all operational members holding a medium rigid licence and completed CFA Driving Courses.
- The Brigade’s Training Program will focus on maintaining and enhancing skills and will be guided by our Risk Assessment Plan.
