General Fire Safety Information
Declared Fire Restriction Period
Fires in the open are restricted though out the
summer as soon as the Fire Danger Period is proclaimed.
To light a fire in the open air for the burning of grass, stubble or rubbish
you must obtain a written Permit from the Greater City of Bendigo - Municipal
Fire Prevention Officer and comply with all conditions and precautions.
Camp fires, BBQ's welding grinding, soldering or gas cutting are permitted during
Fire Restriction times provided certain precautions are taken.

Declared Total
Fire Ban 
Total Fire Ban days are declared only on days of
extreme fire risk and when a fire would be expected to develop rapidly and be
difficult to control.
On days of Declared Total Fire Ban - no fires are to be lit in the open air
unless a special permit or exemption is obtained.
Is Today a Total Fire Ban Day?
Open Air Burning and Incinerators
City of Greater Bendigo Council's local Laws regulate
the use of open air burning and incinerators in Residential Areas.
Tuesdays and Saturdays are the permitted days between the hours of 9.00am and
5.00pm.
Once a Fire Danger Period is declared - all Fire Restrictions as set by the CFA must be adhered to.
