The aim of the Brigade is to assist the community to prevent or minimize damage to life, property and the natural environment from the threat of fire and other emergencies.

 Objectives    2005-2007
To provide the community of Maiden Gully an efficient and effective operational capable fire and emergency service, in accordance with the provisions of the CFA Act, Regulations, Policies and Standing Orders by providing assistance and leadership to:

 

1.To provide an efficient and effective operational capability that meets service delivery standards in order to manage a broad range of incidents.  This will be achieved by:

Increasing the availability of daytime firefighters and drivers.
Planning for updating the Tanker with a Pumper/Tanker.
Updating the current Slip-On unit

2. To use the treatments outlined in our Risk Management Plan to ensure the safety of our community and further enhance the partnership between the Country Fire Authority and the Maiden Gully community.  Specific outcomes will include:

Producing two community newsletters.
Promoting our Brigade Website.
Holding at least two community education events in Maiden Gully.
Reviewing all Risk Treatments and Pre-plans.

3.To provide opportunities and training for all members to achieve and maintain appropriate skill levels enabling them to maximise their potential.  The Brigade’s Training Program will focus on maintaining and enhancing skills and will be guided by our Risk Management Plan.  Members will be encouraged to participate in Group, Regional and State training initiatives in order to achieve specific targets of:

All Squad members having Wildfire & Low Structure Qualification.
70% of Squad members having Wildfire & Structure Qualification.
50% of Squad members having Structure & Wildfire Qualification.
30% of Squad members, including all operational officers, having Crew Leader at Small Incidents Qualification.
50% of Squad members holding a medium rigid licence and completed CFA Driving Courses.

4. To provide cost-effective and efficient support services that enhance the Brigade’s operational capability while minimising energy and resource use.  Specific emphasis will be given to:

Recruiting more members for the Support Group.
Successfully conducting a range of income producing activities.
Foster the community partnership with Maiden Gully IGA.
Completing construction of our practical training area.

5. To support other members of the Country Fire Authority in achieving the vision of Safer Communities

6. Plan suitable events to celebrate the ten year anniversary of the brigade on April 28th, 2008

7. To foster our Twin Fire Services relationship with the Pewaukee Fire Department.
